In June 2023 Supreme Court of the USA announced that universities could no longer consider dividing students into groups while making admission decisions.
This announcement makes an effective ending where the idea of Affirmative Action, which had been placed in higher education and the workforce for over 50 years. While making this decision, the court viewed cases at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina.
Students for Fair Admissions is a group that brought the case through the U.S. court system several years ago. The group reported that many Asian and Indian students were not getting a fair chance to attend the top selective colleges and top universities in the U.S. The reason behind this is some places were being held for Asia and Indian students. After the decision came out Joe Biden who is the president of the USA spoke in favor of international students.
Nowadays, adolescents from India attend classes in the United States. As a result, international students studying in the U.S. have been increased. Moreover, China has several students who will always prefer to study in the USA, and the large number of Chinese international students in the U.S. is dropping. However, the difference between Chinese and Indian students is 269,000.
The flow of students has increased due to Joe Biden’s administration. They allow students who completed their study programs in STEM – science, technology, engineering, and math to navigate their lives in the U.S.A. for work experience this helps in finding a relevant job.
